Reborn Dolls as Christmas Gifts: Who They're For and When to Order

Every year around Thanksgiving, the same email starts landing in our inbox: "If I order today, will she have it by Christmas?" Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes it's a very close call. This year we did the math early so you don't have to send it.

When should I order a reborn doll for Christmas?

Our delivery estimate is 12 to 30 days from the day you place your order. That window includes 2 to 5 business days for us to get your baby ready and handed to the carrier. Shipping is free and tracked on every order.

Count 30 days back from December 25 and you land on November 25. That's the last day the full estimate still reaches Christmas, and it leaves no room for anything to go sideways. We suggest ordering by November 15, which gives the box about ten spare days during the busiest shipping weeks of the year. The US Postal Service posts its own recommended holiday mailing dates every fall, and they're a good reminder of how crowded December gets.

  • November 15: our suggested order-by date for Christmas
  • November 25: the last day our full 30-day estimate reaches December 25
  • November 27: Black Friday, already too late to count on a Christmas delivery

That last one surprises people. If you were planning to wait for weekend sales anywhere, a gift ordered on Black Friday can't be promised for Christmas morning. Our shipping and delivery page has the full details, including how tracking works.

Who is a reborn doll a good gift for?

The happiest gifts we see go to people who have already told you, in some way, that they love these babies. Maybe she saves reborn videos, or stops at every lifelike doll she passes, or has one already and keeps talking about a "sibling" for it. A collector who owns a few will usually have strong opinions about faces, so look at what she already has. If her babies are all sleeping, a sleeping newborn is a safe pick. If she's mentioned wanting one with open eyes, take the hint.

Grandmothers are another group who often light up. Many enjoy dressing a baby, choosing tiny outfits and holding something with a little weight to it. A cloth-body baby in the 18 to 20 inch range is a comfortable size for that.

For children, think it through first. Our reborns are made to look real and to be collected and handled gently. They aren't built for the rough play a toddler gives a toy. An older child who already takes care of her things can love one, and a cloth-body vinyl baby is lighter and more forgiving than full silicone. Some of our babies come with a magnetic pacifier, so keep those away from young children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned parents about small magnets that kids can swallow.

How much should I spend on a reborn gift?

Prices in our shop fall into three rough groups. Vinyl babies, with either a soft cloth body or a full vinyl body, run about $90 to $120. Minis from 6 to 13 inches are about $100 to $130. Full silicone babies at 17 to 18 inches start around $350.

Silicone costs more because the whole body is soft and squishy, and it moves more like a real newborn when you pick it up. It also asks for more care, since silicone grabs lint and dust. If you're torn, our vinyl vs silicone guide lays out the differences side by side. For a first reborn, most people are happy with vinyl, and the savings can go toward a second outfit or a soft blanket to wrap her in.

What should I check before I buy?

Photos sell reborns, so study them. Zoom in on the knuckles and the creases at the wrists. Careful painting shows soft color in those folds instead of one flat skin tone. Then read the body type in the title or the options. "Cloth body" means a soft fabric torso with a vinyl head, arms and legs, so that baby can't go in the bath. "Full vinyl" or "full silicone" means the whole body is one material. On a cloth-body baby you can often spot the line where fabric meets vinyl at the neck in the photos.

Check the length too. Our babies are listed in inches, from 6-inch pocket minis up to 22-inch babies, and the difference in your arms feels bigger than the numbers suggest. Lay a bath towel on the table and measure 19 inches along it with a tape measure, then picture a baby filling that space.

What if the gift isn't quite right?

Gifts often sit wrapped for weeks, so timing matters here as well. Our 30-day return window counts from the day of delivery. A baby delivered on December 5 can be returned until January 4.

If she simply changes her mind, return shipping is paid by the customer. If the baby arrives damaged or isn't as described, we pay for it. Sale items can be exchanged but not refunded, unless they arrive faulty. Every detail is on our return policy page.

We'd love every gift buyer to pick up one habit. Open the shipping box the day it arrives, even if you plan to wrap it later. Look at the fingers, the eyelashes and the face paint by a window in daylight, then pack her back up. If anything is wrong, you'll know in early December, while there's still time to sort it out.

A few gifting details people forget

Read the listing to see what comes with each baby. Some include a pacifier or a headband, and on a few listings that piece is chosen at random. If you're planning to ship straight to the recipient, consider sending it to yourself instead. You get the tracking emails either way, but only one of those options lets you check her over before the big day.

Under the tree, keep her in a sturdy box rather than squeezing her into a gift bag. Rooted hair and tiny fingers both come out of a long wrap looking better that way.

If you're still deciding, take your time with all our reborn babies and note the length and body type on each one. Questions about a specific baby or a delivery date? Write to us at support@bublun.com.
